An AFDD (Arc Fault Detection Device) test bench, designed in accordance with the IEC 62606 standard, is a device used to simulate and verify the performance of AFDDs under various arc fault conditions. The Object of this test bench is to ensure that AFDDs meet the specified requirements for protecting against arc faults, which are a major cause of electrical fires.
It measures and records various parameters such as the time it takes for the AFDD to trip, the arc current, and the arc voltage, ensuring that the AFDD operates within the specified limits.
This test bench confirms that the AFDD effectively disconnects the circuit when an arc fault is detected, preventing the risk of fire and damage.
Purpose of Testing:
Verification of Functionality: To ensure the AFDD is correctly detecting and responding to arc faults.
Preventing Fires: To ensure the AFDD can quickly isolate the circuit and prevent potential fires caused by arc faults.
GENERAL TEST BENCH REQUIREMENT
Bench will be used for verification of AFDD coupled MCB & RCBO.
The type of product under test & it related parameters will be linked with the product cat number & will be selectable through PC.
Test bench will have 2 fixtures:
1. Shaker ARC test & PTT Test
2. Electric Strength test (HV)
Test bench will be suitable for following Test –
1.Shaker ARC test
2.Push to Trip Test
3.Electric Strength test(HV)
The PC, Interface module and software will be common for all the Sources
Ideal for quality assurance labs and production environments, it ensures reliable performance and compliance with industry standards.
The AFDD Test Bench is a comprehensive, floor-standing solution designed for rigorous verification of AFDD-integrated Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCB) and Residual Current Breakers with Overcurrent (RCBO). Engineered for accuracy, automation, and ease of use, the system integrates electro-pneumatic fixtures, vibration testing, high-voltage validation, and intelligent control via NI LabView.
