As per the standard, a finger from a glove or mitt is cut, filled with pop & mounted on the steel shaft which is 5mm in diameter and 120mm in length. The shaft is centered on the interior of the finger & inserted to midpoint. A small burner is arranged in a vertical position below the unit under test. The burner is ignited using the controls on the equipment and the flame is applied to the unit under test in accordance with the conditions in clause 5.8.2 of IEC 60903. The flame is thus applied and the propagation of flame on the test piece is captured. This equipment can also be used for the tests as per UL 94, ASTM D 5025, BS EN EN 60903 and GB/T 17622:2008
