“This SCR make test setup is designed for safety and performance testing of domestic electrical appliances. The system performs sequential testing for Earth Contact Resistance, High Voltage, Insulation Resistance, Leakage Current, and Performance as per IS 302-1 and IEC 60335-1. 

The above-mentioned tests will be carried out automatically one by one and if the failure is observed the test will be terminated.

All test results are logged via LabVIEW software on an inbuilt PC, enabling detailed analysis and record-keeping.

Test Sequence

  • Earth Continuity Test :
    a) Checks grounding path resistance
    b) Pass threshold : Typically, < 0.1 Ω
  • High Voltage Test (Dielectric Strength)
    a) Applies 1.5–3 kV AC between live parts and body
    b) Duration: 1–5 seconds
    c) Pass: No breakdown or leakage beyond threshold
  • Insulation Resistance Test :
    a)500 V DC applied between live parts and body
    b) Pass threshold: > 2 MΩ
  • Leakage Current Test :
    a) Measures current leakage under normal operation
    b) Pass threshold: < 0.75 mA (varies by appliance type)
