The test bench tests the di-electric withstand capability of the product with settable high voltage and allowable leakage current. The voltage set can be ramped up slowly with a settable ramp up time so that the user can exactly find the voltage level at which the insulation breakdown takes place.

The equipment provides an electronic circuit for current sensing & tripping. Various tripping current ranges are provided to protect the sample as well as the equipment. The high potential test system is designed for all the methods of voltage applications (voltage profiles) such as short time test, step by step test, slow rate of rise test etc. – thus it caters to requirements of the ASTM D 149 test standard.

We provide an oil bath environment (test chamber) with various electrodes as mentioned in the Table 1 (page 3) of the standard. We welcome inquiries for customised high voltage testers with customised electrode dimensions.

In the PC based models, voltage, time, rate of rise & all other parameters can be set. The voltage against time graphs (real-time as well as test results) can be seen in the software. User can generate reports, export to MS Office / PDF, save & set all parameters.

    Method C: - Slow Rate of Rise Test
  • Different Electrodes (Type 1 to Type 7) as per ASTM D149 are provided.
  • Rate of rise of Voltage (speed of variac) can be selected automatically by PLC or PC.
  • Safety Factors:
    a) Door Interlock for Test Chamber.
    b) Emergency OFF facility
    c) Oil cooled / insulated HV Transformer
  • The test bench can be customized as per Voltage Level & Leakage Milliampere Level so as to suit its testing needs. Also, All Models can be customized according to AC , DC or both and can also be customized with Micro controller based or PC based.

  • Input Supply: Input Supply: 415V AC, 3-phase, 50Hz, 28Amp each phase. (Tailored to your standard supply from electrical utility)
  • Voltage Range : Model 1 : 0 to 50KV AC & Model 2 : 0 to 100KV AC.
  • Tripping threshold – 5 mA, 10 mA, 25 mA, 50 mA, 100 mA AC.
  • Trip current setting will be selectable with rotary selector switch.
  • Rate of Voltage Rise:
    a) Low limit – 0.5 % of full scale.
    b) High Limit: 10 % of full scale .
  • Duty cycle: 50% and 5min duration.
  • Indicator Lamps – HT ON, PASS, HV TRIP, DOOR OPEN & TEST OVER.

Apply voltage uniformly to test the electrodes from min 150V/s to max. 5000V/s until breakdown occurs

Method-B-Step-By-Step-Test

Method B: Step By Step Test

Apply voltage to the electrodes at the preferred starting voltage and in steps and duration as shown in fig. 2 until breakdown occurs.

Method C-Slow-Rate-of-Rise-Test

Method C : Slow Rate of Rise Test

Apply voltage to the electrodes, from the starting voltage and at the rate until breakdown occurs

Test Parameters

  • Lab view-basedsoftware are working for Rate of rise depending upon final HV test voltage.
  • Shown table gives the idea of Rate of rise Minimum & maximum range, Step voltage as Test voltage.
